Ministry of Consolation: The Ministry of Consolation was started January 2001, as a way for the parish to reach out to those separated from loved ones by death. The ministry offers various means of assistance to bereaved families immediately after a death but also, and perhaps more importantly, weeks and months later. Some of the services offered are: Helping to plan the funeral liturgy, commemorating the loved one at the Mass of Remembrance the second Wednesday of November each year, offering a mass for the deceased, remembering the family with cards during the year, offering pamphlets to help families cope with grief and mourning, and praying for the family at the time of death and for an extended period of time.
